Charities registered under the Charities Act 2005 have a wide range of purposes and activities, and touch on New Zealanders’ lives in many different ways, providing support and services where they are most needed.
For the first time, the Charities Register has brought together up-to-date information about charities, from which the Charities Commission can obtain and publish relevant and specific data about the charitable sector and its work.
Some are large and complex, but many are small and have minimal resources to do their work. Some are “mature” and experienced, others are newly-established, and still developing their unique character.
