Using the site without a mouse
The site can be used without a mouse. There are shortcut keys that will take you to commonly used pages such as the home page and the search page.
To use these shortcut keys hold down the ALT key (PC) or CONTROL key (Apple Macintosh) and then one of the keys in the table below. In some browsers you may have to press enter to confirm your choice. In the Opera 7 browser press Shift-Esc, release those keys, and then press your chosen access key.

Use of text on this site
Most navigation elements are plain text and we have provided text alternatives to graphics on the site.
Those with visual impairments may be able to increase the size of the text on screen.

The site has been tested in version 3 browsers and above for PC and Mac and a number of earlier ones. If you find this site difficult to use with your browser please let us know.
Page load times
We have been careful to ensure that most pages are short and will load quickly. Information on the site is available in HTML format, with PDF and Word provided as alternatives where appropriate. Most pages are less than 30K and should load in under 9 seconds using a 28k modem.
